Bio

This biography is a placeholder.

Madeline Ashby is currently eligible for the John W. Campbell Award for best new science fiction or fantasy writer whose first work of science fiction or fantasy was published in a professional publication in the previous two years. That work was vN: The First Machine Dynasty, from Angry Robot Books. It's about the inter-generational blood feuds of cannibalistic self-replicating humanoids. It starts out with a vN named Amy Peterson eating her grandmother whole at kindergarten graduation, and moves on from there. Some people seem to have enjoyed it. Those people are probably all on a list, somewhere.

Ashby is a science fiction writer and strategic foresight consultant living in Toronto. Originally born in the US, she immigrated to Canada in 2006 and has not looked back. Her short stories have been featured in Nature, Flurb, Tesseracts, Imaginarium, The Tomorrow Project, and elsewhere, and her non-fiction has appeared at BoingBoing, io9, Arcfinity, Creators Project, and Tor.com. You can find her at http://madelineashby.com or on Twitter @madelineashby.
